1) If elected, what would be your top priority?

-Increase the visual police presence in all areas of the county;
-Focus on removing illegal drugs and those who bring them into our communities;
-Protect your children from Internet predators;
-Remove drunk drivers from the roads.

2) What are your qualifications for this elected position?

-Sergeant/Ogden City Police Department (12 years)
-Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration/University of Phoenix
-Veteran of the USAF/Military Police
-Graduate of the Leadership Development Program/USAF

3) Are there any changes in policy or procedure that you would make in this elected office? If so, what are they?

As a Patrol Sergeant with the Ogden Police Department, I know the importance of "hands on" police work in both corrections and law enforcement. To ensure that I (and my staff) do not forget this, I will require a monthly minimum amount of "hands on" work to be performed by everyone in the department.

4) What ideas do you have for streamlining expenditures in the office's budget?

-Require inmates, who have pre-existing medical/dental conditions prior to being booked into the jail, to pay for their own medical/dental bills.
-Create inmate work programs so inmates can earn their own money and pay their own way.
-Decrease the $18,000/year paid by taxpayers to house 1 inmate.

1) If elected, what would be your top priority?

To maintain national law enforcement accreditation with CALEA (Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agency) and remain compliant with Utah Jail Standards.  This helps insure accountability and effective use of taxpayer dollars that are directed to public safety.

2) What are your qualifications for this elected position?

Over 27 years of experience.  This includes line level, supervisory, and command experience in every division of the Sheriff's office.  The last 7 years I have had the honor of serving as your Weber County Sheriff.  I am familiar with corrections/law enforcement practices as defined by the U.S. Constitution and federal, state and local law.

3) Are there any changes in policy or procedure that you would make in this elected office? If so what are they?

We will continue to remain an accredited department that will serve and protect the people of Weber County.  In doing so, we strive to conform to the highest standards and best law enforcement practices.  We are therefore constantly reviewing and updating policies and procedures in order to better serve the people of Weber County.

4) What ideas do you have for streamlining expenditures in the office's budget?

We have implemented a system of accountability and oversight to make sure that each dollar spent goes towards the fulfillment of our mission and that nothing is wasted.  Our budget is compared informally against actual expenditures on an ongoing basis and formally in reports and staff meetings at least monthly.
