1) If elected, what would be your top priority?

I will bring expertise, which has never been in the office. By proper management of deed and survey records of the county, I will manage the office of recorder with the same trust, integrity, expertise and professionalism which I have used to manage the County Surveyor's Office.

2) What are your qualifications for this elected position?

-Licensed in 3 states as a land surveyor.
-Surveyed for 22 years
-Weber County Chief Deputy Surveyor for 11 years
-Managed the departments budgets and personnel
-Produced numerous title abstracts
-Expert in interpreting deed records
-Expert at producing maps
-These combined offices require expertise in all of these areas.

3) Are there any changes in policy or procedure that you would make in this elected office? If so what are they?

Yes. There are policies and procedures in the office of Recorder that I believe need to be adjusted.. To make the adjustments, which I’m aware of, the elected official must be expert in using, interpreting, and understanding recorded documents and their purposes.

4-What ideas do you have for streamlining expenditures in the office's budget?

I have drafted a comprehensive consolidation plan which has been submitted to the County Commissioners. Because the departments will be operating as one, I have identified areas of savings by either combined or eliminated budget items and I have identified over $200,000.00 that could be eliminated from the 2007 budget.

1) If elected, what would be your top priority?

My top priority will be to ensure all land ownership records and official surveyed documents are honestly and accurately recorded. I will evaluate current office policies, procedures, and practices for accountability. Adequate checks and balances are a must in promoting excellent public service to our residents. "If the record's not right, let's get it right!"

2) What are your qualifications for this elected position?

I have an Associates degree and am pursuing a BS degree at Weber State University. I have acquired leadership, supervisory and management experience through participation in professional, educational, civic, employment, and personal endeavors. I possess excellent decision-making skills, integrity, honesty, and accountability to our taxpayers, which are personal values necessary for this elected position.

3) Are there any changes in policy or procedure that you would make in this elected office? If so what are they?

I would strongly urge the commissioners to reinstate the checks and balances between the Recorder and Surveyor offices, because separation of powers and responsibilities is critical in maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. Fees for public services need to be repealed because we are already paying for these services with our tax dollars.

4-What ideas do you have for streamlining expenditures in the office's budget?

After reviewing budgetary practices, my first priority would be to find and eliminate unnecessary expenditures such as car allowances and other allowances that are not promoting good public service. I would also consider reducing the Recorder/Surveyor's base salary by 10% and allocate that amount to developing new ways to improve public service.
