1) What would be your education priorities if elected to office?

a. Sustain the Mission Statement of Ogden City Schools to assist each student to achieve a passion for learning, readiness to pursue their personal and career aspirations, and the capacity to thrive as responsible citizens.
b. Support renewal of School Facilities.
c. Actively represent the citizens of Ogden City as a member the school board working as a team.

2) How can your school district address the issue of safety of students and staff?

a. The district has an implemented Safety Policy. This needs to be constantly under review and kept current. We need to be aware of improved policies and programs and implement those which would apply in our District.
b. Each School also has their own policy which is under the direction of the school's Community Council. These policies need to be constantly reviewed to insure the safety of everyone.

3) What ideas do you have for addressing the issue of shrinking financial resources and growing student population in some areas?

a. We need to engage the first the assistance of the family. We need to look at ways in which the family can be involved in the overall education process.
b. We need to use the resources of the community through partnerships.
c. We also need to work with our legislature to legislate more dollars into the system.

4) What kind of public disclosure of school district operating and capital expenses do you favor?

a. We are accountable to the public for the budget. This includes all expenses incurred. All spending is a matter of public record. This is the way it needs to be continued. If there is a question it needs to be presented in open session under public input. This is the process.

1) What would be your education priorities if elected to office?

I believe when voters passed the last bond election we were given a clear mandate to make our schools the pride of our community, where students reach their potential, and where teachers have the tools and resources to provide a world class teaching experience. Our children, educators, and community deserve nothing less.

2) How can your school district address the issue of safety of students and staff?

We can address the safety of students and staff by reviewing and updating our safety plans, continuing to encourage our community counsels in working with their schools to improve our school improvement and safety plans, and continuing our close working relationship with the Ogden City Police to provide resource officers within our schools.

3) What ideas do you have for addressing the issue of shrinking financial resources and growing student population in some areas?

What we have begun to do as a School Board is to look at cost cutting measures, including forming a committee to come up with ideas that will save us money and we have talked about hiring a company or person to oversee the conservations of electricity and fuels, etc. Just leaving one room with its lights on or its computers on over a weekend can cost quite a bit of money, that shouldn't be spent. We are doing whatever we can as a Board to encourage our people to consider their resources, the same as if they were using them at home, and giving us the same consideration they would with their own limited resources being spent on electricity, fuels, etc.

4) What kind of public disclosure of school district operating and capital expenses do you favor?

I favor complete disclosure, as long as doing so does not cost us a lot money to oversee the information being submitted to the public. We have a cost containment committee, we also have an auditing committee by which the Board considers how the district can contain costs, and by which we audit the goings on of our district budget and expenses.
